At this process, the operator uses a steel-rule die (SRD) to cut the parts out of the panel. Using the pressure from a die press, a SRD can cut several parts at one time. SRD's are considered "soft tooling", which is normally used for prototype and pre-production builds. SRD's are also used for cutting PSA pieces and large coverlayer openings. |
